Le Devin du Village (Fontainebleau, 1752)
Jean-Jacques Rousseau was an accomplished composer as well as a movement-defining philosopher. Join up-and-coming musicians for Le Devin du Village, a short comic opera about a village romance with catchy music and an audience sing-along.
Ensemble Bonaventure is an early music ensemble based at McGill University in Montreal. Founded by McGill students Vincent Canciello, Ana Neocleous and Ian Plansker after a late night of rehearsals, Ensemble Bonaventure seeks to breathe a new spirit of vivacity, youth, and interpretive freedom into their music, exploring new, untapped frontiers within the world of historically informed performance. The ensemble is, at its heart, a student endeavour, and remains entirely run and funded by music students. Our November production of Dido & Aeneas, featuring a reconstruction of the lost prologue, was our first major project since our founding in February 2022.
