Hoja de cedro weaves a seamless, oriental, foundation for each composition, investing them with a profound mystical ora and a deep well of emotions.

AL GOLPE DEL GUATIMÉ
JOSE ANGEL GUTIERREZ, requinto et voix

A notable figure in the world of Son Jarocho, José Angel Gutiérrez has graced stages across Mexico, as well as prestigious festivals in France and the United States. As the disciple of one of the most illustrious figures of son Jarocho, Sg. Arcadio Hidalgo, he co-founded the group Mono Blanco and was a member of the ensemble Negro directed by Salvador Ojeda.

A multifaceted artist, Gutiérrez is a composer, writer, musician, and accomplished singer. Alongside his wife, Teresita de Jesus Islas, a dancer, singer, and jarana instrumentalist, he founded the group Al golpe del guatime. Teresita de Jesus Islas, apart from her contributions to the revitalization of Son Jarocho, is also pursuing a career as a painter and poet. Their son, José Enrique Gutiérrez Islas, has joined the group, showcasing his talent on the Guitarra Bombona. They have received invitations to perform at various festivals, including the Cumbres de Garonna in Bordeaux and the Encuentro de Jaraneros in Los Angeles, USA. The group has released numerous albums, contributing to the rich tapestry of Son Jarocho.
 




Ziya Tabassian began playing the tombak (Iranian drum) at the age of ten. After a brief initiation period in Iran, he continued his training in Quebec, his adopted homeland. As a percussionist, Ziya Tabassian is professionally active in early music, as well as contemporary, current and world music. He performs with several other musical groups, including Regard Persan and Ensemble Caprice. He has performed in more than 40 countries in prestigious festivals and concert halls. He has many albums to his credit on some major labels. He has also performed in recordings with the Kronos Quartet, Kayhan Kalhor, Mercan Dede, Hossein Omoumi, EnChordais and Lo’Jo. Recently, Tabassian unveiled "Remembrances", an album featuring his original compositions for instrumental ensembles. His compositions are characterized by a rich tapestry of sounds, seamlessly weaving together traditional and modern influences. His artistry continues to captivate audiences, offering a captivating blend of tradition and innovation.
