The Montreal Baroque Festival presented the first performance of Vivaldi’s unfinished opera Motezuma in 2013 in a newly reconstructed version by Matthias Maute. This aria, D’ira e furor armate, armed with anger and fury, is performed by Suzanne Rigden, soprano, Alexis Basques, trumpet and Ensemble Caprice.

Alexis is a prolific performer of Early music. He is playing regularly with most active and innovative ensembles including the Ensemble Caprice, the Bande Montréal Baroque, les Idées Heureuses, the Theater of Early Music, la Nef, the Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Toronto’s Schola Cantorum, Aradia Ensemble, Thirteen Strings and the Pacific Baroque Festival Orchestra. He is also the founder of Les Sonneurs de Montréal, performing brass music on period instruments.

Suzanne Rigden, a Berlin based Canadian soprano, is making her mark on the International stage with her “remarkable gift for stratospheric coloratura” –San Francisco Chronicle. Equally at home in the operatic, symphonic, operetta, and musical theatre repertoire.
